About This Transition

The Soledad Community Health Care District is committed to transparency and community engagement as we move forward with the transition from at-large to by-zone elections. This important change will ensure fair representation for all residents within our district and aligns with California Elections Code Section 10010.

On this page, you will find board meeting videos, official documents, and other resources that explain the process, timeline, and steps involved in establishing by-zone elections. Our goal is to keep the public informed and provide a central hub for updates, so that every community member has access to the information they need to understand and participate in this transition.

Resolution No. 2025-08 formally declares the Board’s intention to transition to by-zone elections by the November 2026 general district election. The resolution also finds this transition exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to state guidelines.

We invite you to explore the materials below and stay engaged in this process as we work to strengthen community representation through fair and equitable elections.

What This Means for You

Currently, board members are elected “at-large,” which means all voters in the District vote for every seat on the Board. With the transition to “by-zone” elections, the District will be divided into separate geographic zones. Each zone will elect its own representative to the Board of Directors, ensuring that all areas of our community have a voice in local healthcare decisions.

Key Points for Community Members:

  • Fair Representation: Each zone will have a dedicated board member who lives in and represents that specific area.
  • Community Input: Public hearings and opportunities for feedback will be part of the process to determine zone boundaries.
  • No Immediate Change in 2025: The transition will be completed by the November 2026 General District Election.
  • Transparency: All meeting videos, documents, and updates will be posted here for easy access.

This process is designed to make elections more representative and strengthen the connection between our community and the Board that serves it.
