Maria E. Schell, NP

Maria E. Shell, a dedicated healthcare professional with over 40 years of experience, has devoted her life to serving the residents of Monterey County.
Maria’s journey in healthcare began as a volunteer candy striper, later working as a CNA and unit assistant while pursuing her nursing education. She went on to become a Registered Nurse, serving as a labor and delivery nurse for more than 20 years at several local hospitals, most notably Salinas Valley Health, formerly known as Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
In 2013, while working full-time as an RN, Maria returned to school to earn her master’s degree as a nurse practitioner, achieving certification in 2017. She then joined Mee Memorial Clinic as a provider before beginning her role at Soledad Medical Clinic in 2020, where she continues to care for patients as a full-time provider.
Maria’s dedication to service extends beyond the local community. She served on the Board of the Sacramento Stand Down Association, where she helped manage the medical tent for their annual four-day homeless veteran events in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, and healthcare provider, Maria is passionate about ensuring access to quality healthcare for all. Her lifelong commitment to service, paired with her wide range of clinical and leadership experience, makes her well-suited to serve as a member of the Soledad Community Health Care District Board.
